Angry? I'm FURIOUS
So I expected Windows 7 to be revolutionary, for both every day tasks and gaming. I've heard about miraculous boosts in FPS for people running W7 as opposed to vista, 3 FPS to 30 FPS.
I, on the other hand, have never used such a terrible operating system for gaming. Vista benefited me in many more ways.
I'm not running on some out dated machine.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition ( 4 CPU's ) @ 3.2GHz
ASUS M4N82 Deluxe
8GB DDR2 4x2GB @ 800MHz
2x nVidia GeForce GTX 275 896MB GDDR3 2-way SLI
1TB Hitachi HDD
2x 24" LG W2452TX @ 1920 by 1200
With Vista it ran crysis DX10, full screen and everything maxed out with an average of 40 FPS. Now I'm getting 28.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
W7: 28 FPS
Vista: 70+
Mirrors Edge:
w7: 40-50
Vista: 60+
I am pissed beyond belief. I can't enjoy games if I can see stutter. I bought this machine so I could run games with a beastly frame rate, and know I can splash out on all the new release games without worrying about a thing. W7 has put this worry back into my mind.
I've tried running in compatibility mode. I've tried updating my drivers. I've tried closing all of my applications and ending processes that I don't need. I've even tried disabling my second monitor while I play.
Nothing. It's still a pile of crap and frankly, unplayable.
Is there anything I can do to make w7 run games better? I don't want to switch back to Vista because it'd mean a fresh install. Backing up is a pain and w7 had the upgrade option so I didn't have to worry about that.
