    Problem installing games in Win7x64

    Hey guys,

I have windows 7x64 and want to play games like assasins creed & fallout 3 which runs fine on my machine when I had XP but the problem is when i double click the installer it says windows cannot install 32bit programs.

I have tried to run the installer in XP sp2, sp3 & Vista modes and this doesn't help.

I'm sorry if this is a repost but I searched the forum and didn't find a similar question, if there is one, kindly direct me to the thread.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't install Max Payne or Blood 2 due to this error. I've installed both the older Serious Sam games, Max Payne 2, and a few other "old" titles such as Oni and Shadow Man just fine but these will not install.

So there are no ways to fix this? Why? I mean it should be backward compatible, right?

I see in the sticky thread that the games I mentioned are compatible with Windows 7 RTM but why can't I even install?

    Can anyone help? Please?

I hate to say it but I suspect the problem isn't the game. It's the "setup.exe" program on the disc that's the problem. The setup program itself is only 16-bit which a 64-bit copy of 7 can't handle.

This is probably one reason I should install my old copy of XP as a secondary OS, for such problem programs.

As for installing my questionable games... it looks like I could merely copy the data folders off the Blood 2 CD. No clue on Max Payne.

Well go figure, I was able to install Kiss Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child just fine. Now, if any game should have a 16-bit installer, it would be that one, seeing as it was made in 1998.

I know for certain that Fallout 3 installs fine on a 64bit system, I have it installed on mine. Also Assassins Creed should install as well, these are both very new games. By any chance are you trying to install pirated copies of these games?

Actually, yes. I downloaded it (.ISO) and mount with daemon tools, but the installers won't install. The DOS dialog box said "Program too large for memory" and then closes. And reinstalling to 32bit doesn't help too.

But its good to know that the copyrighted ones work. And if anyone knows a way to make the pirated ones work that would be much appreciated!

Sorry bud, I don't support piracy. My only suggestion is to buy the real thing. If you look around I'm sure you can find both of those games for about $20 each now.
