Age Of Empires Collector's Edition displays weird colors

I have a legal version of Age of Empires Collectors Edition(AOE1+expansion and AOE2+expansion) and whenever I play/start AOE1 or 2 (I only installed the base games) the game displays weird colors.
(not sure if relevant: the logos and intro before the Main Menu don't have weird colors)

Like on the left part here:

I tried this solution but it did not work:
Windows 7 fix for messed up colours / Old games like Age of Empires and Cossacks - Age of Empires II Forum - Neoseeker Forums

The same is explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmW2uxWZUeM
    It's not called Windows7 fix.bat but AgeII.bat, I assume that doesn't matter?

My assumption is that these solutions are for the regular games, not the Collector's Edition.
I couldn't find any threads about a solution specifically for the Collectors Edition so that's the reason behind this thread.

If something is unclear please let me know.
I hope you can help me!:)

It looks as though the game is trying to run in 16 color mode, rather than 256 color or newer 32 bit color modes. Is there an ".ini" file that you can edit? Or a setup menu off of the startup screen?

It sounds like this bat file just sets the graphics systems to work with more colors. Your bat file should work no matter the name, as long as it referenced the right items inside of it. Unfortunately, there is no way for most of us to know if it would work, unless we've gone through a similar procedure with the game.

    EDIT:

I checked the thread you linked and did you try the third option? The CRTL-SHIFT-E functions?

Can you try this fix and check if it works. It works for me and I'm still playing AoE, AoC and StarCraft without color corruption

I am not sure what happened or what I did to solve the problem but it seems to work now.
Sorry for the very late reply.
