2-3 minutes into gameplay, pc will crash (not turn off) just black scr

Hello,

2-3 minutes into gamplay my pc will show a black screen, the pc appears to still be on, but non functional,

I cannot access the desktop or task manager,

I have run the dxdiag,

I have posted this to the games manufacturer, but they have insisted its computer problem, and nothing to do with their game,

The game is World Of Tanks, and they have advised me to run a DxDiag, which I uploaded to them -

Is their any settings i can change on my computer to stop this from happening ?

Stuart, I could be totally wrong here but, by looking at the little bit of info on your system specs, it appears that you have a low end graphic card. It makes no sense to me how they sell you an i7 CPU, win 7 64 bit with 16GBs of ram and yet, a very old GPU?

All I can tell you is make sure you have the latest video and audio drivers. If you do, perhaps something got corrupt when you installed the game so it wouldn't be a bad idea to uninstall the current video driver and install a fresh copy of it.

Also, during game installation, did it ask you to install DX9 and you probably skipped that part? if so, perhaps reinstall the game and install everything it asks you.

Yeah I also thought this could well be the issue,
My computer was shop brought, but I did, slowly over time upgrade the processor and ram, but not the graphics card, so this could be something to eliminate,


I also thought it may have something to do with the hardware acceleration, but wouldn't know what to tweak their,


I will upload the 'DxDiag' if you think their might be a clue in that you may or may not see?


I think I have the most current version of DX9, but I will check that also,

It could also be that the video card is becoming too hot as you play the game. That's an old card and it may be taxed heavily playing World of Tanks, possibly too much for its fan to handle. My card shuts down during gaming the exact same way unless I set the fan manually at a minimum of 65% (but that's an AMD Radeon thing I won't get into here).

I would run Furmark for a half hour and see if the card cuts out on you. Be careful to monitor the temps while you do it. Please post the results.

Don't forget to scan the download with an antivirus program. Geeks 3D is a fairly reputable site in my experience, but it never hurts to check files from these download sites.

thankyou for your help with this -

I downloaded the application and ran it,

was scary to see the temp going up and up, it got to about 105c, and then the computer went black,

the computer was still on, but the display cut out,

The only way I could get back, was to shutdown the computer manually and restart,

This and also clean its fan out, provided it's not one of the so old it literally has no fan gpus...
105C is around the usual gpu cut off where it will forcably stop itself to avoid burning your house down.

Definitely worth upgrading the gpu when you have the cash for it, just with the other parts you have in order to allow them to actually be useful (I mean any game that can even make use of the cpu/ram you have will need a stronger GPU to work with anyway)
