Yepperz, I still have the Super Nintendo & Sega Genesis hooked up to the TV downstairs, just in case I feel like stepping back and playing Street Fighter 2 or Sonic. Hell, I still have the original Nintendo Game Console up in the attic somewhere with 8 or 9 carts
i wish i still had the system, but it broke and i had to scrap it, so now im using an emulator

Right now I'm playing a lot of Arma 2. It's incredible, best FPS I've ever played. The way it simulates everything, the realism is pretty impressive, and it's great fun online.

Last night we had 4 squads of 8 men each, fighting to take back towns from insurgents. Naturally I'm the in-house pilot and I can really appreciate the flight model, very good. Tons of fun hugging the tree line trying to get men to the front line, dropping equipment etc etc.

The only negative is it requires quite a powerful rig to play well.

How is this game, Ive been curious?
I've seen everything from a great game, to horrible, to buggy as heck.

From what I've gathered, seems to be a love it or hate it type game.

    - I was a bit dubious as well - but I was pleasantly surprised:

it's actually not that bad a game in single-player mode - it uses the DUNIA engine so it's full of beautifully designed landscapes, brilliantly realised futuristic vehicles and lovingly created cut-scenes; there's certainly plenty of eye-candy..!!

    - haven't tried it in multiplayer mode yet..

must say, my two crossfired 4890's absolutely love it in DX10 - all settings at maximum..
that might be down to those amazing crossfire profiles that Ati make for certain games (?)
NB: apparently the profiles also work with single-card Ati set-ups as well..

    - anyway, back to Avatar-The Game:
..in-game, your Char has a certain amount of freedom to explore, but it's not a roam-anywhere-type game..
..you collect missions as you go along, get experience points, attain additional skills, better weapons, etc - usual stuff..

Following the basic gist of the blockbuster movie, you start as an RDA grunt and can switch sides during game-play
    - it handles beautifully, really responsive to controls via my G9 - no profile yet available for the G19 keyboard, which would be a nice addition..

my only gripe is that you have to run everywhere: you can't walk, there's no control setting for it anywhere.. (- I believe this only applies to the PC version, though, console players have the advantage here..)
    - as a result this makes stealth gameplay pretty much a no-no, and there are a number of occasions where a slow and stealthy approach would be much better than simply running into a killing field..

    - nevertheless, if you can get it at a good price online, or at a knock-down price via your local supermart, you're onto a winner..!!

BTW: there's been a coupla patches since release, and it's one of those online-registration games, where you get the updates automatically..

    Not bad at all..

BTW: Absolutely lerved the film.. got it in Blu-Ray,
masterful film-making by Cameron and his team of CGI geniuses..

Hey, I've just noticed that some games are given a recommended WEI score:

e.g. BFBC2 from EA has a recommended WEI of 5.0
    - while Avatar via UBISOFT has a recommended WEI of 5.5

    - has anybody found any others..??

The game "recommended" WEI score is pretty much based on your system specs. I wouldn't worry about it. With today's components it doesn't take much to score 5.9 under WEI, so if you don't.... well.....

That's Microsoft's way of saying your system is good enough to play the game

Again I wouldn't worry about it, or put too much stock in it.

    My tow cents.

I agree, Most modern systems should be able to score a 5.9 easily, limited by mechanical hard Drives.

I certainly wouldn't put much of anything into it.

For example, look at Bioshock 1 and 2. They seem like very low requirements to me.

Although the WEI itself should be taken with a grain of salt.
Im not so sure BS would actually play very well if your system really had a WEI of 2.
