The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series was a little too Russian and inaccessible, but Metro 2033 did a pretty good job of capturing the atmosphere of the locale whilst retaining accessibility.
I tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl but never finished it because of.... bugs! That game definitely gets my vote for buggiest game I've ever played

There was a HUGE thread over at Rage3d about it, and it was like 50/50 for those who liked it against those who hated it because of bugs.

Anyways when I finish Dragon Age I'll give Metro a try.

    Later :)

Mafia II is the order of the day. I've only had it a couple of days and have completed it twice. It has a very short storey and I feel ripped off @ £40. Most of the game is took up with video cuts.

Good game play, good graphics, good storey but very very short.

    new to gaming

I'm new to the gaming scene. I've got a steam account and with that a free game (Alien Swarm). Now I'm hooked. Maybe I'll see some of you online. I never knew how much fun this could be....only down side is having to get used to using keyboard and mouse instead of a controller.....freaking addictive.

Finished Mafia 2 chapters, enjoyed it alot but was a bit short and no free roam...well there is but you need to download a mod for it so its unnoficial...and resets some of your stats!

Im hoping the new DLC for Mafia 2 wont cost alot,If it does i wont bother buying it.

I was thinking of re-installing GTA IV,ive never done all the missions!
Think the one that's being released in 5 days will cost $9.99, so it isn't *too* bad, but still more than I think it's worth. Especially when all the DLC is already in the game, what we download just "enables" it so to speak. I heard there's a mod that enables it already somewhat, but is rather buggy.

Oh yeah, S.O.C was a nightmare to begin with bug wise. It improved a fair bit with the later patches. I persevered because it was different and had a lot of atmosphere - but it had to keep getting shelved until it was patched.

Clear Sky fared a little better out of the box, but that too was still damn buggy.

Call of Pripyat - I don't know tbh. I probably played it for about an hour or so and haven't touched it since. It's one of those 'maybe get around to it one day' games.

Metro is a hell of a lot more polished.

It wouldn't be too bad if they sold the game at half price, because they are essentially selling a half a game. But to charge full price and then make you pay extra for what is already there is just gouging.

A 360 pad works wonders with the pc and plays 99% of games.

I paid £25 pre-order for mine off Play.com, which I don't mind paying for a game. Steam has the normal game, and the collector's edition of Mafia 2 at 25% off currently, so it's £30 for Mafia 2, and £40 for the collector's edition. Normally it would be £10 more for both editions, which is way too much. Especially when the DLC isn't going to be free.
