    GOG.com

It was posted earlier, but anyone still having trouble should give GOG.com a try. They have a digital copy of HOMM3 Complete for 10$. They've updated the listing and it is now officially compatible with Win 7 (32 & 64). I haven't tried it myself but gog.com is a good site and can be trusted.

I'm also using the GoG version (H3 Complete) and have to say it works flawlessly, except for multiplayer.

My resolution auto changes to suit the game and stretches it to fit my 24" monitor (it's not as bad as it sounds).

To play multilplayer, my friends an I use a program called GameRanger. I highly recommend it.

Umn.. hello, sorry if this may be necro-posting and what not..
My issue with this, though small, is the game crashes when loading up a custom map (Map made by me) as I want to test it out, but maps preset to games installation works, not my map though.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete is what I have, UbiSoft version, not from gog .

Again, sorry if this may be necro posting.

Lets make it clearer-- I made a map, largest size and has a full land mass dedicated to player. As a test I randomly placed the enemy to be unreachable for the test (will become available once progression continues), and it crashes after loading screen.
Did a test on a new map again but with small land with only enemy hero and good hero, it loaded and no crash and it was small map, what could be the issue with the map I want?

    This worked for me

I know this is an ancient thread, but I thought I'd contribute this for other Googlers like myself.

I have used the Heroes 3 with the Wake of Gods mod on three machines 64-bit Windows 7 and one running 64-bit Windows 8 without any problems. If you are having problems running the game, perhaps installing the mod will help: Heroes 3: In the Wake of Gods. Download Section - Heroes 5(V). Heroes 4(IV). Heroes 3(III). Heroes maps. All about Heroes of Might and Magic.

On one Windows 7 machine I could not install Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete. Autorun.exe and Setup.exe on the discs (or ISOs of them) would simply not work. I installed HOMM3 in a virtual machine running 32-bit Windows XP and simply copied the C:/Program Files/3DO/Heroes 3 folder back onto the host machine. I didn't bother with the registry entries. I installed the Wake of Gods add-on and everything works great.

Running HOMM3 out of a virtual machine (like VirtualBox) is always an option too. I think HOMM3 will run in Linux with Wine if you don't have access to a Windows XP ISO.
