Can my current PC be improved for gaming?

This PC is a generic basic junk-box but it's all I got. finally I've got around to playing PC games and it running on a 1/2 star rating. Can I buy RAM or change graphics card etc to boost it a bit? Buying a new gaming PC is beyond my budget for now.

System specs are as per the spec list below.

I hated win 8 so much on a laptop I bought, could not even make anything open. Horrible unresponsive squares. I slide it under the bed and there it lies until this day unused.

What benefit will win10 give to my PC performance. sorry but I'm a doubter on that.

It depends on your budget. If you can find a Core 2 Quad cheap, a GTX 1050Ti is also a good choice. I got a I7 4790K from a friend and bought a GTX 1050Ti. I am gonna use this system until i have earned some money to buy and build my own gaming system.

Its hard to find Socket 775 CPU:s nowadays. If you want to find a Core 2 Quad, ebay is the only option.

Linux Mint 18.2 xfce 64-bit (VMWare host) / Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit (VMWare guest)

Have you considered going with a more light-weight OS than Windows? I have found that Linux Lite is a very light-weight system for my old computer -- my old computer runs well with Linux Lite 32-bit. You can create a Linux Lite DVD and boot to the DVD, to see how it runs on your computer -- doing this would not install anything on your computer, so it is a safe way to test Linux Lite with your computer.

Has restore been improved in Windows 7?
Everytime I've used Restore in Windows Me or XP it never worked correctly. Since I've installed Windows 7, I had one issue and was thinking about doing a restore but instead, I just did a reinstall. If I have a backup and a system image, is Restore a viable option for fixing/diagnosing...

Improved AMD gaming fps with Radeon Pro
I am so excited my games run super smooth on my laptop I wanted to share it with others in the hopes that your gaming thirst can finally be quenched. I'm using dv6- 6c35dx that has a 6620g discrete graphics. Basically not really meant for gaming. It is now in my point of view. Sacred 2 is at 35-45...
Improved log in time?
Has anyone noticed improved log in times since the last batch of Windows Updates? Previously my PC would show the welcome screen for 20-30 seconds before the desktop would appear. At the moment I see the welcome message and within 5 seconds I'm at the desktop. Has anyone notice improved log in...

WordPad improved, but no more 'Scraps' support
One of the features I used a lot in WinXP was: - open WordPad for typing a quick text, or pasting something - CTRL+A to Select All - Drag the selection to the Desktop, creating a 'Scrap', a 'torn-text-icon' for instant access, opening with WordPad (IMHO, better than QuickNotes, for the text...
