Windows 7 internet games are shutting down in january

As you may or may know, Windows 7's built in online-play games (like Internet Checkers) will be shutting down in January. I don't play these games often, although I sometimes play occasional round of Internet Checkers.

Someone should develop a custom server for these games. Perhaps someone could figure out how the games communicate with the internet and reverse engineer it that way.

Have you looked around on the Internet to see if there is anywhere that you can download free games from?

I don't think you will get many [if any] answers to the second part of your post!

I think you mis-understood my post.

I don't play those games often because I don't really play virtual board games (if I wanted to play a board/card game, I'd play it in real life). You make it sound like I can't afford real video games - I can assure that that's not true and I use my PC for gaming all the time (it is a gaming PC after all)

I'm simply asking that if a custom server would be possible for archival purposes.
