    Cannot Run Newest MC Version


    Good afternoon.
    I am having issues with my grandparents' computer and the newest version of MC. When my cousin and I stay over there, he plays my grandparents' old computer and I play my laptop.
    Last Friday, for the first time ever (MC worked on "Windows Vista" and the extant "Windows VII" we have now), "Minecraft" failed to even go past the Launcher. I had never seen anything like it.
    My grandparents' computer exceeds the minimum specifications for this video game and we have the most recent drivers.
    What are we doing wrong?     I tried asking Microsoft directly, but I got no response.

    P.S.S.: My grandparents have Norton Internet Security, which apparently has risks of crashing when logging in to "Minecraft". Would this break MC?

    First off what is "MC"? Please don't use abbreviations and assume that everyone knows what it is. Secondly if it works on a old system but not a newer one then there is a compatibility issue. If it is extremely old software (which I would suspect) then it could be 16-bit and 16-bit software can't run on 7 64-bit. If the other computer is Vista 32-bit you wouldn't have that issue. However without any additional information on "mc" or the computers I can only speculate.

    If you had read beyond my post's title, you would know that "MC" means "Minecraft".

    You don't need to smart off. Do you have the Java JRE installed and is it 64-bit? From here: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/get-minecraft
    Software Requirements:
    Minecraft Release 1.6 or newer. Older versions will need to be updated to current versions
    Please note that some users experience issues playing Minecraft while using a mismatched version of Java for their operating system (32 or 64 bit), while using certain versions of Java 7, or while multiple versions of Java are installed
    Starting from Minecraft 1.12, Java 8 will be required to run Minecraft. If you don't know whether you have Java 8, don't worry - our installers supply Minecraft with its own version of Java by default.
    Is it Minecraft version 1.6? You asked about Norton. I don't know if it'll break Minecraft but have you tried disabling it? I'll have to admit I don't know anything about the game.

    Yes, we have sixty-four bit Java.

    Minecraft is currently at V1.17, not V1.16 .

    If you already have it installed, try right clicking on the .exe file and selecting Properties. Set the compatibility mode for Vista. Apply. Also, select "Run as administrator."

    I didn't think to try the Windows Compatibility Mode. because it's never worked before. I will definitely do that. I already run "Minecraft" as an Administrator, though.

Newest Version.....?

Whats currently the newest w7 version? and will they upgrade that 1 aigan to an higher level? i have build 7260 can i just upgrade it to an higher level or do i need to reinstall everything?
I'm currently using Windows 7 Build 7068 (beta) and if I read right, it will start to reboot every 2 hours starting tomorrow. What's the newest version of windows 7x64 that uses RC keyes? (I read b7264 uses different keys)
