    No 1280x1024??

Hello, I am new to this forum.

I have just reacently upgraded my windows vista 64 home premium to Windows 7 Home Premium edition, I use my laptop for many things, and gaming is a big part of it. I love playing rts like Age of Empires 2, but with windows 7 installed i noticed how it does not let me choose the 1280x1024 option, i have made the game fullscreen by using ATI CCC and it does not show those black lines any more but it does make my colors look weird, for instance the grass is green but it has little red dots on it and the water is blue but it has purple dots on it, everthough i have made it full screen i would still like the option of changed the display size inside the game..

    Thank you.

I don't know anything about ATI, but have you downloaded and installed the latest driver? You may also try installing the driver for your monitor.

I found this in another forum and it works, but i do not want to keep starting and ending the explorer in the task manager, any ideas how to fix it without doing this

"Go into task manager select the processes tab and end explorer.exe then alt-tab back into age of empires
Note: this will make your task bar disapear and any open folders
To restart explorer open the task manager agian in the aplications tab hit new task and type explorer in the box
The colours change because of the Aero theme's poor handling of colours

    Edit:
You can also make a batch file with the following lines and place it in the same location as your age of empires 2 executable

    taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
    age2_x1.exe
    Start explorer.exe"

Age of Empires 2 on Windows 7 = color issuse
