    Runescape

I am incapable of connected to the update server when loading this game. This has been an ongoing problem for the last few months, though recently I've taken a renewed interested in trying to fix it. I am positive that this problem is caused by a Windows 7 component in conjunction with a proxy that is used at the college I attend.

My reason behind this is my Runescape work fine until i had my computer updated with Windows 7 OS. At this point, it stopped loading while at college. It still loads fine when I visit home or use a restaurant wifi access.

I know the proxy has not been updated to block Runescape because my roommate (who uses the same internet access as me) still has it work on his computer. The only difference is he still uses the Vista OS.

I have tried opening the ports up for Runescape in the firewall, have tried deleting java and reinstalling it, and have tried several different web browsers, all with the same result. The bar just stops loading at the Connecting to Update Server, and never moves any further.

I've also tried the follow things, but this doesn't seem to help:
    1. I've also tried deleting the jagex folder and internet cache on my computer. Still no fix

    2. Tried downloading the Runescape client and still no fix

    3. I've also tried installing Windows XP virtual desktop, which has not helped either.

    4. I tried increasing the priority of the web browser(s) I am using, and increasing java's priority in the task manager

I'm quite stumped. Any ideas would be most appreciated. The only even mildly close idea i can come up with is that something in my BIOS, but that seems far fetched. If you have windows 7 installed on your computer, does your old bios get wiped and a new one for windows 7 is installed? Just wondering....

Thank you for all your help! I hope to resolve this asap.

Have you tried contacting Jagex or opening a thread in the Runescape Tech Support forum section? That would get you more 'Runescape' specific help.

I love this forum, but I would suggest trying Runescapes forums first.

It sounds like something with RuneScape that happens to a lot of people, failing to fully connect and obtain all the updates from their server.

As to your last question, Windows 7 doesn't touch your BIOS. I doubt this is BIOS related one bit.

Ya, I've been on the Runescape forum for probably two weeks now, updating the thread, kinda waiting for new ideas and such, and I figured trying my luck here.

You wouldn't have any clue as to what could be wrong though, do you?

First guess would be your internet settings. Try (if you can) install Windows XP or Vista as a dual-boot and see if you can get it working with RuneScape.
