Gears of War + Windows 7 + Windows LIVE = FAIL

    Hey,

When I try to sign in into Live in Gears of War PC i get this message:

    Image 1
    Image 2

I tried all the popular remedies which I googled up beforehand and still nothing. This includes router settings, port forwards, windows ip socks and all that jazz. Zip, nada, nothing.
I'm on W7 x64 but the game works so that's not an issue. Neither are GoW patches nor Games for Windows LIVE software as I got the latest possible.
I also tried every last suggestion in various topics in this forum and still nothing. I KNOW the issue is with Windows 7 because it logs in perfectly in Windows XP so that's not router's fault for sure. UPnP is enabled in Win7, I checked and even downloaded software to check if the UPnP works [it does].

    Any suggestions?

It sounds like a fire wall issue

Forgot to mention, I don't have any firewall software installed, windows firewall is off [Gears is 'allowed' even though firewall is off.

um, then im assuming your behind a router?
Try to connect directly to the internet modem. You may need to have a port opened on your router for it to work correctly

Does the PC have any problems getting online otherwise? Like going to websites or chatting.

Do you have any other games for windows like GTA4 and do they have the same problem?

Do you have your games for Windows live account associated with a Windows Live messenger account if so try logging into your messenger account first then start the game and try to login games for windows.

All required ports are already open, as stated in the first post. I already tried connecting directly, the problem persists.

PC has no problems getting online [games/http/ftp/etc.] whatsoever.

Unfortunately I have no other GfW LIVE games.

LIVE account is associated with messenger account. I got the same issue while logged into messenger. I even had the games for windows live application running in the background, logged in without any problems.

You may want to contact MS on this issue....
I know it requires sitting on the phone for hours....

Were you able to log onto GFW with this game before? Can you laod the game on another machine to see if it will work on another machine. Try changing you password in messenger then try to logon again.

It's not the problem with the password, it's clearly Win7s problem. I can login normally and play without any issues when I boot to XP. Something in Win7 is stopping GoW from reaching internet and I don't know what exactly [firewall is off, upnp is on, network discovery is on].
