Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

    • 1920x1080p
    • 16:9 Widescreen
    • All 10 texture/shadow/gameplay settings in game maxed out
    • All config menu options maxed out
    • 4x AA
    • 4x AF

After a quick jaunt to the .ini file and config launcher to adjust and double-check resolution - Fallout 3 runs perfectly. I have to test with FRAPS to adjust the filtering to maximize the FPS, but so far, an excellent game.

Glad to hear it. Though I have no problems, I know this is a hit and miss game under Windows 7

Good game BTW, I might play it again. Of course I'll have to finish Bioshock 2 first :)

It won't take you long - Bioware is getting sloppy. I clocked up 13hrs compared to 22+ hrs in the original Bioshock. The engine also looks the same as it was in 2007. Here's hoping Metro 2033 and Mafia 2 will push my 4890.

Well don't forget what I said here - So I bought Bioshock 2 - Special Edition….. At any rate I started playing again and its moving along now.

Oh and 2K owns Bishock. Bioware has ME1 & 2, Bethesda has Fallout 3 :)

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Update

    • Adjusted AF to 2x
    • Adjusted AA to 2x

At the previous settings, FRAPS reported that the FPS averaged between 43-62 FPS, with less than 3 spikes @ 20-30FPS over a 2hr period. So with these adjustments smoothness is slightly improved. If anyone wants to max out the filtering, you'll need a 2nd card in Crossfire, or maybe, just maybe a single 5870.

I was thinking bout picking up fallout 3 GOTY edition. Is it worth playing?

I heard it plays like Oblivion .. which I never could really get into so I wasnt sure if I should try it or not.

but i love stuff like Mass Effect and Bioshock

I would guess you probably can run x16 AF w/out fraps running. AF usually has little impact.

Most excellent game. Loved it to death. And even though it's a pretty long game on it's own, the expansions make it that much more longer with the GOTY. Much longer than Mass Effect 1 as I consider ME2 the shorter of the two.

At any rate, barring any "Windows 7" issues, I think you'll enjoy the game :)

Just Picked up Fallout 3 GOTY.
So far so good, and looks really good too :)

Im not to far into ti yet however, just left the vault and in the open world i guess youd call it.

The only issue I have with it is GFWL acts wierd. The cursor seems off a bit when choosing an option in GFWL.
Meaning, when I hit HOME it comes up and clicking on a choosen link thats highlighted all works as it should. but the cursor itself is at the very bottom or not quite touching the chosen link.

Any one else see this or just me?

Other than that the game itself runs perfect and looks great at x2Aa x16AF.
