I've downloaded Microsoft Tinker into a c:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftGames\Tinker location, extracted game.msi and then tried to start up Tinker from the games folder in the start menu, but nothing happens.
    Can anyone please assist?

I've tried through GamesForWindows but that's problematic as well.
When downloaded, I click Play and nothing happens, so that's another troublesome method.

Did you follow my installation method as described in Post #15 of this thread?

I've followed from your link (post 15) and still no joy.

This is a snapshot of where the files are on my computer.....

Clicking on either Tinker.exe or via the icon in the games area of the stary menu results in a UAC message saying "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"
I hit 'Yes', the cursor goes into 'thinking' mode for a few moments, and then nothing happens.

You need to actually install the game. Click on Game.msi and then, once the installation has finished, click on DXSETUP.exe to install the relevant DX files.
This is what my games folder for that game looks like after installation:

I had already clicked on the game.msi file to set up Tinker, which resulted in those files in the above picture being present in the snapshot of my earlier post.

Aren't there meant to be any more files relating to Tinker elsewhere on the C: drive?
Where , for instance are the music files?

when i was on GamesForWindows download, after dl finished i had to click myself the link install and then click play...and it went all fine.

I guess you have done that already

    Edit (Correcting Path):

    The folder is in:
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Corporation\Tinker.exe
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE

    and no tinker appears in
    c:\Programs\Microsoft Games

    I'm on a x64.
And the only thing is when you do get registered, the game connect you to the internet before starting (looks it is optional)...i do not mind, but for those...

Maybe you should delete all files and retry.

Thanks, this was the best thing to come from Vista Ultimate extras.
