Thanks just tried that with XP SP2...nothing game won't even load

MW I had unistalled altogether as it was a complete waste of time...

If I could run XP in Win7 it might help but don't have the hardware for VP...so it's either alot of hassle (and money) upgrading everything or just continue switching between HD's which is a bit of a pain just for gaming!!

ok Fifa just loaded after a loooooooooooong wait, still laggy not very playable and still exits to a black screen and lost Desk top!

Try emulating it with MS Windows XP Mode. You have Ultimate. Take advantage of it's features. :)

Horrible idea. O.S emulation doesnt even support DirectX and its much slower than running the O.S its self.

A lot of threads have been posted dealing with similar issues with game performance on W7....this thread has some info that may help you with your problem

XPmode is not suitable for gaming like gamepro127 points out so you can cross that off your list of fixes to try

I had problems running DX9 games on W7 x64 like CoD4:MW, CoD:WaW, Guild Wars, etc. after checking my drivers (sound/video) and installing DirectX 9c runtimes I have had no problems with any of my older DX9 games

I'm not sure what your problem is, I play Modern Warefare(CoD4) all the time with no problems. Only game I seem to have problems with is Crysis. I play CoD4, Fallout3, Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, ect. I hope you solve the problem, please post if you figure it out.

The problem is (and I don't seem to be alone here) the game freezes after a short period even on medium settings and I need to reboot to get out of it....I have Win 7 installed on 2 HD's and the one I had MW on a Samsung 250GB drive fried and is unusable, I'm not saying the game is the cause but after 1 week?? Win 7 is fine on the other drive

Fifa 10 is laggy in gameplay on all settings and when exiting the game I get a black screen desk top...I've tried the few suggestions on this and other threads but no difference made.....card drivers were updated with the latest I could find as it wasn't recognised on the old drivers, maybe I need to find alternative drivers
