Would it be possible is someone could inform me of how I would go about installing Call of Duty 2 onto my PC (which if you haven't guessed, runs on Windows 7). I am new to the OS and I really don't want to go fiddling with stuff.

"Fiddling" with PC based games finally prompted me to buy a PS3. Problem solved. No more hours-long tweaking to get games to run correctly, no more wasted time searching for answers on line. Games on the PS3 JUST WORK! Besides that, it's a great Blu Ray player. I currently play Call of Duty MW2. Frickin' awesome game--in online play, campaign mode, and special ops mode.
I don't usually play games on my PC as I also have an Xbox 360 but the thought of Call of Duty 2's Zombie based dedicated servers some how managed to make me have such an urge to do something something with my PC other than to stare at Youtube.
a few days ago, while on PSN, I spotted an old version of COD for $15. Thinking it was the version I used to play on my PC (I've since sold that game at a garage sale), I downloaded it. Upon playing the game, I realized I made a boo-boo--the version of COD at PSN is an OLDER version than the one I played a few years ago on my PC. LOL! Now I have an "antique" video game that has quite primitive graphics. sigh. Next time I'll be more careful when I buy downloadable games.
the only "game" (and it's really a simulator, rather than a game) I have installed on a PC is Flight Simulator 2004. And I can't get the frame rates up to the speed that I had when it ran on XP; something I've asked about on this forum, with no fix in sight. (Which goes to my original comment about avoiding the grief of configuring a PC for gameplay)
Installing games on Windows 7 is no different than doing so in any other MS OS. About the only thing that you must remember is to do so with Admin Rights, which, for the most part you will have if you login as the admin of your computer. If you login as a simple user, then, you must ask the admin to install the game for you and make a shortcut to it on your side of the desktop (ie: your dad is the admin and he made a login for you as an user) but that's just how it works on XP as well.
The installation should also ask you if you want a shortcut on your desktop (again, if you are the admin), otherwise, you just got to go to the Game folder on your Win 7 and the shortcut should be there.
FPS games on PC are still a little more challenging than those of found on the consoles but... to each his own.
Ok thanks AstaLaVista, it was just because it's a XP game I was unsure as to what I'd have to do but it seems straight forward enough.
I sometimes play various games in the CoD series round my friends house as prior to this Christmas I had a laptop the struggled to open IE without overheating.
I have a problem, Just got a new comp with windows 7 runs great blah blah blah but i cant invite or join a game we both get failure to connect...1...2...3 and so forth anyone know these reasons if someone says the port need to be open... please tell me how to open them and which ones

I had the same problem until I turned on "DMZ Hosting" on my router. You will have to open your router settings to turn it on. I always turn it off though after my gaming sessions for security reasons although I can't confirm whether or not it is actually a security risk as I have heard differing opinions.
If it is CODMW 2 go to the infinity ward website or steam. If you are behind a router you will have to go to that web site and get the settings.If may be as easy as just opening your nat.
ok i got a cisco router and dont see the DMZ thing and could i get a link for the steam choice
