assassin's creed not working on windows 7?

im running windows 7 32bit but when i try to play assassins creed it always pops up with a patch/update. i let this run but the next time i press play the same thing happens. ive red some other forums and they say dx9 = xp and dx10 = vista what one do you use for windows 7? any ideas on what i might have done wrong in the installation or what i could do to fix the problem? thanks

when i try and run dx9 or dx10 and error pops up saying: c:\windows\system\zinput1_3.ddl is either not designed to tun on windows or it contains an error

update: problem solved for anyone else having the same or similar problems try downloading missing ".dll" files. just type the file you need into google and you should find what your looking for. then just save the file into the appropriate folder. usualy system or system32

Assassin's Creed
I'm done playing it, but does anyone know if you can run the game like most PC games to take up the whole screen instead of just the window? Or does Assassin's Creed only run in windowed mode?
