Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE
What gives? Microsoft made a big splash about Games For Windows, and the GFW client that is freely downloadable in order to access the service and to purchase and download games.
I figured I'd give it a go, and tried to test it by downloading the free "Tinker", but I have to enter a U.S. address to continue. Eh? Isn't this supposed to be a free service, available to all?
And if it is limited to only U.S. residents, why the heck don't they mention it BEFORE we all go through the rigmarall of settings up a gamer tag and installing the client?
Any advice?

I'm in the UK and I downloaded Tinker just fine. It's only too bad GFWL is horrible. It has about 15 games and the ingame menu is buggy too. When you bring it up using the 360 pad you still select opntion in the background in the game.
Steam is a damn sight better in terms of game selections, prices and proper friends list.

Perhaps so, but I was actually hoping to get Tinker for a co-worker's daughter. He's looking for a couple of puzzle games and such that she might like, and Tinker was the one I thought of that would be "easy enough" to get...

Why not trying to find a version for South Africa. This might not help but atleast you could try.

i wouldnt even bother, just get steam instead, they have some puzzle games on there.
while your at it you might want to avoid any games that require gfwl.
as far as im aware the only one so far is gta4 and that game still doesent work for me.
but yes steam would be a much better way to go, it has all thoses pogo games avalible to it as well
