    Far Cry 1 windows 7 64bit

I downloaded Far Cry 1 and installed it, though I can't get it working! I also installed the "64bit patch", yet not working, anyone has got a clue? :/ I have also changed the compatibility on the setup, game and the patch to Windows Xp SP3.
When I start the game this error appears: Crysystem.dll Loading Failed: %1 is not a valid win32 application.

I've searched for about 4 hours on google and haven't found anything that helps...

I have no bloody clue how to fix it. So somebody please help

There should be no problem. Consider, where you downloaded it from and your system spec.

You could try running it through steam, that worked for me.

Care to explain how you did that?

I bought it through steam, 5 dollars maybe caught it on sale. That version works while my old cd version doesn't. Some old games are like that. I had a problem with some other old games before. I ended up getting a GOG edition and they worked. Some old games seem funny with windows 7, but steam and GOG versions work.

    Thats how I did that!

Some old games are like that, here is a thread from a long time ago

    Chaser

I tried everything to get it to work but it wouldnt, then got it from GOG site and it worked.

Far cry was the same way, I wanted to play it again so I bought it off steam, and it works.

That's not really answering the question.

The reason I asked is because I have the original retail version of Far Cry and the CD Key does not register with Steam. In fact, the CD Key doesn't follow the format Steam wants. This is why I asked how you got it to "work with Steam"???

You can see in the image below the PID format does not follow Steam's format...

    Far Cry 1 windows 7 64bit-steam-pa-1.jpg

Thus no registration. BTW... Retail/ Digital CD Keys

Don't know what CD Keys GOG is giving but the original retail version of the game follows different format than what Steam wants, which means you can't activate the game under Steam.

I didn't register it with Steam. I purchased it from Steam. Yes you shouldn't have to buy a game again, but in order for it to work I did.

And for the GOG game (Chaser) it was the same process, purchased the game again.

I was giving the op another option to play and old game, didn't mean to be vague.
