    Problem about monitor

this is my problem: when I start to play a game or a program, the monitor screen turn into game screen and then it turn back to desktop screen instantly so I can't switch to the game or program, I still hear the sound from the game. I tried to click on the game in the task bar but it didn't work. Can somebody give me an idea about this error? Thanks!

    Hi Elephance!

Could we please get a list of system specs to better help you with your problem?

My first bit of advice would be to ensure all drivers are up to date, and we will go from there.

    Hope I can help,

    Thank for your help.
    Here is my computer's info:
    OS: Windows 7
    Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6300 @ 2.80GHz 2.79GHz
    RAM: 2GB
    System type: 32-bit
Display Adapters: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
Monitor: HP 2009 Series Wide LCD Monitor
Display Driver: igdumd32.dll Version: 8.15.10.1749 Driver Model: WDDM 1.0
    Sound Driver: HdAudio.sys Version: 6.01.7600.16385

I used Device Manager and choosed "Update driver..." for the Display Adapters and Monitors, both said that the drivers are up to date.

Hmm... could you post an example of which games/apps cause this to happen?

I believe that this might be a compatibility issue.

I played game "Warcraft III" and using Yahoo! Messenger (the chat message window didn't appear when I click it on taskbar). But this never happen before, just some days ago. I also use compatibilty for Windows XP mode but it doesn't work.

im having a very similar issue.
i use a lcd tv as a monitor. I open HAWX,and it flashes black, says "searching for signal" then "mode not supported".

I switched compatibility, and now i could alt+tab out of it. I couldnt before. Then i will see the game in a window. click the window and it goes back to black.
    Any fixes?

Most people tell you to switch the compatibility.
right click icon > properties > compatibility.
Use XP or vista. But it wont work for my game. Any fixes?

Have you tried a System Restore to get back to a few days ago?

Elephance, try going directly to the manufacturer (of your video card) and update the driver manually.

Briantheman, your game may be launching at default in an unsupported video mode (such as too high a resolution or colour mode). Try launching it as an admin, or in 256 colors and 640X480 res.

Sounds like it's been forced to minimize. What other software like temp monitors, mouse. k/b, A/V apps etc do you have running in the background?

One of them appears to be 'demanding focus' which will result in fullscreen apps becoming forcibly minimized.
