    James Cameron's AVATAR in DX10 (win7x64)

    Afternoon forum,

    Recently i have been playing James Cameron's AVATAR pc game and have been experiencing a few problems, so i thought i'd shear them with you just in-case you have solutions to fix them.

    Right;

    Running the game in DX9possess no problems with ultra high settings, full AA and at 1920*1200 res. However when i change it to DX10 with the same settings i run into a few problems. The games runs fine for about 5-10 minites then with no warning the display freezes but the game continuous, the only way to get out of this is to restart the game through task manager.

    Note;
    • I have both patches installed for the game.
    • I have changed the display settings in DX10.
    • I have changed the res in DX10.
    • I have taken off the AA in DX10.
    • I have the latest drivers installed on the GPU's.
    And still no change. This is the only game this happens on, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, COD2, Dirt 2, Borderlands, Fear, Fear 2, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Bioshock, Dead Space etc. all work fine.

    Any ideas, or fixes would be much appreciated.

    Sliice.

    Outdated drivers for your sound & video... even though you said the other games are not affected, you don't specify whether the other games are also played in full DX10.

    Another thing you may want to check is if the driver for your BenQ supports x64 bit for vista or Win7, or you may want to upgrade the driver as well so you are not using a Generic driver.

    Thanks for the reply, i'll double check the drivers (again) but i'm quite sure that Crysis runs DX10, my whole computers bench marking is based around the Crysis bench mark software and i'm 100% certain that runs DX10.

    I'll look into the Benq drivers if there are any?

    Thanks again....

    Will post if this resolves the problem.

    Crysis can run in DX10 but only if you ask it, if not it will default to dx9... Now, don't quote me on it, it has been a long time since I played crysis so I could be totally wrong in that assumption.

    Sometimes, even if I have the latest drivers, after installing a game, the drivers will become corrupt or pitch a fit and only after uninstalling them and installing fresh copies of it, will my computer go back to normal. Again, this is my experience and I have no base or hard evidence to support this but... if this helps get your gaming back, does it matter?
