    New DX updates (Feb 2010)....

For those that like to keep everything up to date Microsoft has released the DirectX End-User Runtimes (February 2010). The web installer can be found here,

    Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime

and will only update those files that need it or are missing. The full redistributable package is here,

Download details: DirectX Redist (February 2010)

This contains all DirectX 9/10/11 files (which get installed/updated depend on OS), but will also only update those that need it or are missing. Also good on a clean Windows install of Windows for adding DirectX 9 and 10 files for those games that need it.
I just did the Redist file and it updated a lot of DX9 files so... might help here.

    Peace

Sorry for the late update. But thanks all for the input. With just the redist install/update and indexing, I noticed I can play both 1 and 2 (beat 1 last night) at max settings (x4AF on part 2) w/very minimal stuttering on full screen. I do notice stuttering when a new level/section loads but it's normal and very brief.

I think the culprit was outdated DX redist. I also think another culprit when playing windowed was the catalyst settings. I'll tinker with that more later down the line since I'm having fun playing the game now.

syg..thanks for the updated link..downloading that now.

Again thanks all for the input. I really appreciate it!

Do the game settings through the game, not CCC! I leave my settings in CCC at default for all games (new games). Doing it this way gave me no problems.

    Glad the DX updates helped.

You might want to check out this tweak guide for ME1 - TweakGuides.com - Mass Effect Tweak Guide. Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

    Good luck.

I myself don't do Xfire because I don't trust it. Too many issues

    But that's me.

Hehe I played around with the CCC's when I first got my lappy. I forgot to set them back to default a while back and I was mainly playing in windowed mode. As of now..everything maxed and I'm a happy camper. Thanks again!
