Have you checked the guys over at rage to see if they're having problems?

Not yet.

I just installed it last night and after a few hard freezes - I got the piackers. After a successful 25 and half hour P95 stability run, I was in the mood for something to 'just work'.

Unfortunately Bioshock2 wasn't it

I have to admit I'm getting pretty sick of 'researching' on how to get a damn game to run properly instead of just installing and then playing the thing

It looks like I've me some reading to do. Cheers mate.

Im a bit confused why everyone on many forums is complaining about Widescreen support and Bioshock ...
What am i missing here?
Mine looks just fine at 1080P, I dont see this huge problem they all talk about. Anyone know what they are talking about?

Wonder what might be causing your problems SmarteyEye.
I just finished my first playthrough..

It crashed 3 times with the "Bioshock 2 has stopped working" error, which was a bit annoying, but not all all a huge problem.

Wonder if its a driver or just X-fire fior some reason isnt agreeing.

Have you tried disabling X-fire to test it? a sinlge 4890 will have no issues at all w/it

I'm not sure about the widescreen issue myself as I see no problems here, but I'm running a 22" 16:9 monitor with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 so...???

As for researching issues to get a game working, I agree it's annoying... but when you spend money on it, it's either fix it, or throw the money down the toilet

As for me, I haven't had any issues yet, but then again I don't run a crossfire setup.

Out of curiousity I would try what wishmaster suggests with just a single 4890 to see what happens. You never know.

BTW in that last link I posted, someone mentioned that crossfire wasn't working in Bioshock 2. There wasn't a lot of talk around it so...

Wish you luck.

If it's similar to the original Bioshock (I played that on the 360) the FOV is in a 4:3 aspect ratio - in other words, less peripheral vision on widescreen resolutions.

Not yet. It's on the list of troubleshooting. As is disabling AA. It could also be sound driver related. Another area to look into

It's a pity though, maxed out it looks good and runs smooth as butter - when it runs

Unfortunately it's happening more and more often. Game A doesn't like config B, Game B doesn't like config B, but is okay with config A etc.

All this troubleshooting just to play damn games. It's getting tiresome. Those next gen consoles are looking more and more appealing.....

At least I've got a few options to try.

Thanks guys.

I heard from someone that there is no controller support for the xbox controller. Is that true? I thought that it was a given, that if it's a games for windows live then it had controller support.

To answer your question...I wouldn't know since I only do PC games. And I haven't heard anything about XBox controllers so...

Sorry.

*Sigh* It's usually the most simple things that are overlooked. It was crashing because I forgot to disable Adaptive Anti-Aliasing

Box AA x8 (if it actually works) + x16AF + Crossfire = okay

Enable Adaptive AA = freeze.

@ SquirrelTakos

No, in thier infinite wisdom, they removed the 360 controller support for the PC version.
