With those crossfire cards, you could probabally run very smooth at:
    x16AF
x8 AA using Edge Detect (x24 effective)

    i want another 4890 ...

I actually stopped using the AAA a while back. Was always some kind of problem when I used it. Not always a crash, but graphic anamolies or something always seemed to pop up due to it.
At least in games I played.

Box AA x8 (if it actually works) + x16AF + Crossfire = okay

    Enable Adaptive AA = freeze.
LOL - Glad you got it fixed.

That's why I stopped using Edge. The graphic glitches were shocking. Even x8AA Box had similar issues. (particularly the plasmid and water/lighting effects) x4AA box seems less prone to glitches.

At least I maintain a decent 120 FPS+v-sync enabled. (Although the 120 v-sync cap because of the nvidia 3D does causes a few graphical glitches of it's own.)

me too :) Mostly... I did get a Black screen of death due to drivers though.

Of course it had to happen after I rescued a little sister and then just defeated the next big daddy without saving first...

This game is boring. I'm simply not feeling it, especially after playing Mass Effect 2. I'm going to have to come back to it at a later date and time

And this is coming from a guy who absolutely loved and raved about Bioshock 1.

    Wow

I started a new game of Bioshock1 again.
Although theres a few improvements in 2 I do like better (hacking for one), overall I still think the 1st one is the better game.

After actually being able to play it, I tend to somewhat agree.

It does feel a lot more simplified (but I do like the simpler hacking), linear and with far less immersion. It certainly lacks the 'atmosphere' that the original had. It's 'just another FPS' now.

Then again, I didn't have any high expectations, so I can't say I'm disappointed.

I played the original on the 360, so to me, the visuals are an improvement.

Although with the majority of games being developed for consoles, I don't know what 'massive improvements' PC gamers really expect to see regarding visuals.

Yeah the game is just moving too slow for me. I might just need a break as I've been gaming pretty heavily here recently - Farcry 2 (unfinished ), Mass Effect 1 & 2, now Bioshock 2.

And considering I paid $90+ bucks for the Special Edition, I might as well try to finish the game. I'll what happens this weekend.

BTW I totally agree that the graphics were much better In BS1, the graphics here (BS2) seem a little dim and dull.

lol, I know the feeling. I start a game, get side tracked by another etc...

    I still haven't finished DeadSpace

As for FarCry2, check put some of the trainers. There is one that allows you to set your own 'tele-port' points. It saves on a lot of that drive to end of the map, just to drive back to the others side BS.

Normally, I'm not a big fan of trainers, but I actually finished it properly and find the trainer just adds a little 'spice' to make up for the shortcomings.

Deadspace is a great game. I don't know where you are in the game, but if it's early, it picks up big time. That's another game I played to death.

    My top five fav's
    Unreal
    Farcry - the first one
    F.E.A.R. - the first one
    Deadspace
    Bioshock - the first one

    Honorable mentions
    Mass Effect 1 & 2
    Half-Life 2 series

As for Farcry 2, I've already given up on the game

With regards to Bioshock 2 I'll finish it, I just need a quick break for now.

    Bioshock 2 Patch...

There appears to be a patch for Bioshock 2, however there is an acknowledged issue with the patch, and thus no "official" download link on 2K's website. Nor is there one 2K's Cult Of Rapture (their Bioshock 2 site) but there is this curious statement with NO download link -

Today we released a patch for BioShock 2 on the PC for issues that we uncovered between the title’s production and launch. Unfortunately, this patch is causing errors in the Multiplayer portion of the game where holding down the mouse button does not register in game. We are already working on a fix to this problem and I will update you with more details as soon as I have them. The full patch list is available here for your reference (minus any potential spoilers.) Our work to fix other issues (including our widescreen fix) is still ongoing and they will be coming shortly. As always, I’ll be posting here whenever I have an update for you.

    PATCH LIST...
The Cult of Rapture - Today's PC Patch List

Also going to 2K's tech forums - Bioshock 2 patch (PC) - 2K Forums links back to The Cult of Rapture's patch list, so....

However you can still get the patch from FileFront - Download Bioshock 2 v1.001 Patch. Personally I'd wait and see what comes next.
