    new to pc gaming

I'm new to this PC gaming thing. I have this game Assassin's Creed I with my new GPU, I can finally play it. I'm having lots a trouble with hand/keyboard operation. I'm not a lefty. I would like to know can I get a wired or wireless controller to use with my PC to work with the game and any other games for the future.

    Just search online!

pc game controller - Google Product Search

from google first thing I found was Logitech Game Controller:

Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 Game pad - 12 button - Mac, PC

This one is also sold at walmart so you might be able to pick it up locally.

Eventually you're going to hate yourself for getting a controller; precision is one of the main attributes that keyboards and mice have over controllers.

If you're "not a lefty", become one, like the rest of the gaming universe. It won't take long. If you enjoy the game, it'll happen before you know it.

That's telling me....funny too. OK, I'll try it but I'm not Mikey, I'm not liking it to much. Never the less, I will keep plugging at it.

Personally and use a combination of keyboard/mouse and xbox 360 controller. I mainly use the 360 controller for racing and flying games (Dirt2 / HAWX etc) and keyboard and mouse for pretty much everything else. For First Person Shooters a controller is not even on the same playing field as a keyboard/mouse combo IMO.

As for Assassins Creed I know that since its pretty much a direct console port its optimised for xbox 360 controller but I found it more comfortable to use the keyboard but then the only console I've ever owned is a Wii so I've never been great with controllers.

I agree with Fumz as the mouse is the most accurate pointing device and the gamepad controller wont give you this.

If you are still worried about movement with the right hand, I have in the past and you can sometimes set this up.....Replace the forward/backward keys to map to the mouse1/mouse2 buttons and put your strafetoggle/fire/jump buttons on keyboard. you then control all the movement with the mouse and control the rest with the keyboard. most games allow you to customize these controls.

lol... go ahead and untie that left arm of yours... place the attached hand on the keyboard... be fearless man, fearless!

I promise, unless your fingers weren't previously mangled in an industrial accident and now resemble shrimps, you're going to find the keyboard a lot more responsive than a controller could ever hope to be.

Now that's funny right there, I don't care who are....that's funny. I'm still laughing.

    lol, just lol.

For some games, especially console ports - a controller is the way to go.

Obviously the mouse and k/b is more precise for the majority of games - but sometimes a sacrifice in precision is worth it.

Driving in GTA IV with a k/b

Driving in GTA IV with a controller

I use both mouse+k/b or a controller depending on the game. Does that make me semi-fearless?

My brother in law... uber geek that he is... has a wheel and foot-pedals. I gotta say it was a blast running through GRID with them.

No, you're fully qualify as fearless. It's all about getting that left hand comfortable in the new hostile environment... there are those that jump in right away and massage the keys, and then there are those more timid types who, with fear in their hearts, tap the keys one at a time... after each tap looking down to gauge its response.
