Windows 7: Call of Duty 2 ping spikes

Call of Duty 2 ping spikes

Hi there,

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Since doing so, when I play on a CoD2 server, my ping will randomly spike up and I'll get CI. These are the same servers I played on when I ran XP and I had no issues with ping. On top of that, my spouse also plays on the same servers with me (she's still running XP), and she has no ping issues.

I have the game running as administrator. I tried different compatibility settings and nothing changed. I even lowered the graphics down to the basics and still have the same issue. I'm not sure if it's punkbuster that's causing the problem (I had to update pb and I've been fine, but I did just get a losing key packets kick which I've never seen before).

Has anyone come across this issue? I have other clan members that also run Windows 7 64bit and they have no issues whatsoever.

I thought this maybe was a pb issue, so I just tried playing on a non-pb server, and I'm still getting the ping spikes.

Also, I play CoD5 and have no issues at all with ping or lag.

This is very strange...

My setup hasn't changed and I've never had this problem before so I'm hoping it's a software issue or some pretty well hidden...
