    Older Games

    Hey,

I'm considering an upgrade to 7 and have a large collection of older games which I'm hoping will run on Vista.

Firstly, will XP games like Simcity 4 and Civilization 4 work with 7 (without XP Mode)?
Secondly, will ANCIENT games like Championship Manager 3 & Settlers 3 (which both predate Windows 2000) work? I know that the former works with Vista's Compatability mode, but do they work with 7's?

    Thanks,
    Wasila

Games that predate Windows 2000 I can guarantee will need a compatibility setting. For MS-DOS games, you can use DOSBox.

But is a compatibility setting all it needs? Are the compatibility options actually any good/do they work? I don't want to get 7 Pro so I'm trying to avoid XP Mode.

Compatibility setting usually does allow you to run the game. Albeit it might be buggy, but at least it will run.

If they are dos games, then Id also recommend DOSbox to run them in.
