how to run axis & allies on win 7 ??????

    Hi!

I have the original axis & allies game cd. it installed fine.

    my system is:
    win 7, 64 bit
    4gb ram
    1tb hdd
    i5 750
    powercolor 5750 1gb
    direct x 11

once i do the compatibility thi the game starts. but it freezes during game play and the start screen doesn't work (gobbles the graphics). also the mouse movement is invisible. could this be a direct x issue?

would love to play the game. thanx for your solutions!!!! :)

    Cheers,
    Clark

    axis & allies

My system is almost identical (i7 & 12gb ram) to yours. I also have problems running A&A on w7. It installed ok & runs up to the main screen where you select the generals/players for each country. This is where I see the symptoms you describe (freeze, no mouse, gobbled graphics).

I have tried w7 (default), xp-sp2 & xp-sp3 modes with same result. Have you had any success?

    thx, w7fguy

    An answere

This question ist quite old, but since two days I'm trying to play Axis & Allies,
with the AA Starter Pack, Full 6.0 Version, now it works.
My problem was, that the game always minimised to the task bar.

    Found the answere here:
I cannot play Axis 98 properly on Windows 7, any - Microsoft Community

Basicly, right click the installer, (AAStarterPackFull60.exe), select ``troubleshoot compatibility'',
and run the windows trouble-shoot service.
Didn't quite get it, it started the installation, when I clicked on ``try selected settings'',
and started the game, before continuing with the ``trouble-shooter''(, ``problem-solver''?),
and I hat do copy the compatibility settings to the installed ``AxisAllies.exe''.
On my Windows 7 it was only ``compatibility mode: windows xp (service pack 2)''.
Think you need the Professional Win7 version, or up, to set the ``compatibility mode'',
but the trouble-shooter will help you.
