If Valve still claims Portal 2 is 'the best they've done' and the graphics are any indication of what's in store for HL3 - then there is going to be a lot of whining.

It certainly looks nice, but I can already hear the 'they took so long to release this? It looks so last gen...' type of comments.

    Yea, you're probably right.

And although I do love the eyecandy .. gameplay is my biggest thing. If HL3 is really good, I could easily overlook it myself.

This is why HL2 is still in my top favorite games of all time.
Its graphics are OK, but certainly nothing spectacular yet still an awesome game.

All I know for sure, HL3 needs to get here soon.
That cliffhanger after EP2 just wasn't right without a followup.

For $50, the game better keep me busy for a couple weeks, not 2 days.

I liked Portal 1 so I thougt about getting Portat 2 but I think the price tag is a bit much for a short game - 39 would have been idea. Also I'm kind of boycotting Valve for their handling, or lack there of, of Half-Life 3. I think it's total BS that they've told us in the dark about 3.

Anyways that how I see it.

I love my eye candy as well, but gameplay is definitely number one for me too.

I suspect 'when' HL3 is eventually released, it won't disappoint in that area.

Despite the relatively dated engine, there are some areas in Portal 2 that are still very impressive. If nothing else, we should expect a dated, yet still good looking game that runs as smooth as butter and has similar gameplay to what we're used to.

What they've done with Portal 2 is to be commended. It is fun, amusing and much more 'fleshed' out storywise - but the cost comments are valid.

The length and replay value are it's biggest drawbacks. It's a great once through game.

But once finished, there doesn't seem to be much point in a second run through which is a shame because a lot of effort has gone into level creation, particularly in the 'non chamber' sections.

The worst part for me is that I'm re-excited and impatient again about HL3. I was 'over' waiting for it, but P2 has whetted my appetite once more.

I want HL3 now dammit and I want it to include a portal gun

Yeah (well it should include Portal 2), and they could call it Orange Box 2.0.

    Oh the good ole days.....
