Very low. The game needs a quad core just to run up on higher settings. Buy playing is better than not.

The latest patch has given us a 20% decrease in performance. EA and Dice have been thus far silent on the issue, not even acknowledging it exists.

If you find the game is unplayable, go to your My Documents\BFBC2 folder and delete everything inside. Start the game and redo your settings and keybinds. This has helped a few guys, myself included, run their old settings; however, as noted, there is a performance hit, so I ended up having to turn off AA.

It's also been reported that some AVG users should reconfigure their active shield (not sure if I got the name on that right, but it's their version of real time scanning), and this too helps mitigate the performance hit.

Having said all that, no, you do not "need" a quad core to run this game well. A high end dual core will do the job; although, I do admit that the game loves clock speed, so the higher you can OC, the better it will run. The video card seems almost secondary as I've seen lots of guys with 8800gts/4850's with OC'd quads run just fine on high settings.

I don't have a quad, but have no problems with all high settings, 4xAA and 16xAF... at least I didn't have a problem before the patch... now, I turn off AA. Not because I "have" to, but you'll see what I mean. The patch is just really crappy.

    To play bfbc2 smoothly

Hey guys, ive got a duo core with an nvidia 260gtx 1gb and have 4 gb of ram, now for me i can hardly play the game. I see some of you are able and I wanted to know how.
I saw someone said to turn off AAx2, AFx1, Vsync and HBAO , however i do not know what these things are (lol), nor do I know how to switch them off, so if someone could be nice enough to tell me it would make me very happy.

hi SandyBallz (), welcome to sevenforums,

along the top of the main menu, you will see an options button.

then underneath, change 'overall quality' to advanced.

you can then change the settings.
