    Serious AOE2 server problem!

    Hi all.
I am having a serious problem with AOE2 server running on Windows 7 build 7000.
When a server is made (on TCP/IP or LAN) something very strange happens to every computer on my network, namely, all internet seems to lag then stop working. Google seems to funnily enough work still, but any pages other than this (gmail, youtube, etc) has a network timeout or displays very strangely. To fix this problem, I have to close the server and disconnect/reconnect my n1 belkin router/modem. Starting a server on any computer on the network has the same effect on the others. (all of my computers are running windows 7 build 7000)

I have no idea why this happens, and have never experienced a problem like this. I tried running the same thing on my dual-boot XP, and funnily enough it did not stuff up my internet. Could someone please help?

PS I tried disabling IPv6, but to no avail. I also tried running in compatibility mode (XP), and still nothing. I am installing the DirectX9 redist package as I write this, so that may help. I will write back with results.

Please help. I really want to play AOE2 on my network, as it is an awesome game.

(oh... i am using an asus eee pc, and therefore am using a no-cd version - however this should still let the multiplayer work right???)
    Thanks.

It has been a long time but if I recall correctly, the "No CD Fix" was an issue for AoE II. I could be wrong, been years since I have played it..........

But the no cd + server DOES work on xp fine!
And how is it that it stuffs up my router for ALL computers on my network?
Doesn't anyone think thats a little bit odd?
Even when i kill the process it still has problem! (until i disconnect, reconnect router!)

I also disabled UPNP on my router coz this looked like it could have something to do with it... that might be why the internet is still working...

    Solved

    Problem solved!
It seemed to be that when I had UPNP enabled in my router it stuffed up, but when it is turned of it works perfect.
That's wierd. Can anyone suggest why this happens? My ego wants to solve problems.
    (I have a brand new n1 belkin modem/router)
