Windows 7 Home Premium

Ok simple solution which works with Windows 7 Home edition 64bit.

Download w7ddpatcher which can be found in the link below. Before downloading the patch change the compatibility settings to the following:

-Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95
-Run in 256 colours
-Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution
-Disable desktop composition

Apply these settings and then download the patch and follow the instructions below:

If link is unavailable just do a web search for w7ddpatcher and you will find other working links enjoy!

Program fixes broken colors under vista/Windows 7 with games using DirectDraw.

1. Press "Patch"
2. locate and double click on "Pax Imperia.exe" from your game folder
3. The patch will say "thats it enjoy your game" (or words to that effect)
4. Finally, close w7ddpatcher.

Thats it. Job done. Open Pax Imperia as you normally would with any other game and the problem is solved. There is no requirement to close explorer.exe or partially install vista on your machines! Simples.

Works with other games exhibiting this issue (Fallout, Fallout 2, Diablo, etc),

Windows 7, Home Professional, 64 bit

yee-HAAA this worked for me, except I could not leave the third box suggested checked. I kept the color depth at 256 and the resolution at 640 X 480, but if I left the "disable desktop composition" checked, I got a very tiny box with some animation centered in my monitor. BUT, with the first two checked, and the .exe file running in Windows 95 mode, it works great at full size! Thanks......

BTW: I'm running Windows 7, Home Professional, SP1, 64 bit on a newer, high-end Gateway laptop.
