    Pax Imperia Eminent Domain

Hi I used to be able to play this great game on Vista without any problems, but now since upgrading to Windows 7, the game plays fine except windows can't see that it has a problem, the graphics in game are all distorted pixels,I have updated all my drivers so that should rule out that, plus the game still has the same problem no matter what compatability mode I try to use,if anyone has this game already working fine in Windows 7,please enlighten me on how to do it,I'm even thinking of partioning my drive and re-installing Windows xp.

The easier way to solve this problem (if anyone else was wondering) is to kill the process 'explorer.exe'

Start the program, then hit CTRL + ALT + DEL to start the task manager, process tab, right click 'explorer.exe' and click "stop process" (or whatever it says... kill, etc).

When you're done playing the game, you need to go back to the task manager, say new task, and type in explorer.exe to get the explorer running again.

    Hope that helps,
    Joe

    Explorer.exe

I recently discovered that explorer.exe is affecting the graphics to one of my all time favourite games Pax Imperia Eminent Domain, and that I need to disable explorer.exe to allow the game to play correctly, does anyone no off a easier way to fix this problem without having to disable explorer.exe every time I want to play this game?

Ok ! update, after numerous installs and uninstalls I have finally managed to get this game to run without any problems on my system,so what you should try is this,if you have the game installed uninstall it,now very important re-install into the STARTUP directory, and when installed run game in Windows 95 compatibility mode with all other option selected,ie 256 colours etc,and thats it the game runs great please let me know if it works for anyone else thanks. Also important run the game from the startup option only and not from a desktop short cut !!!

I installed a new partion with Windows 7 on both partion's because I have discovered the reason the game won't run right graphics wise, is because there is something that windows 7 updates ***** up the game,so the only option if you want to play this game trouble free is to stop windows 7 updating or do a double windows install where by one updates and the other one don't,this is very important if you are serious about playing this game, because windows 7 will bugger it up if you allow it to update!!!!!!!

I have Windows 7 Professional and was able to solve the graphics problem by going to the properties of the game and selecting the Compatibility tab. On there, I only needed to select two settings: Run in 256 colors and Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution.
