    Graphics Card Help

Hey guys, i recently installed The Elder Scrolls:Oblivion, and i was wondering whats a good card to run it with. I wanna be able to run it with high or medium graphics. The card i have (check out my Specs) can run it at the lowest setting and at a 1024 x 768 resolution. Can anyone recommend a new card with a HDMI output?

    Thanks in Advanced.

P.S: My Comp is not in any way a gaming Computer. (I'm still working on it)

    Hi Vierasniper,

Great game by the way. Here are the requirements, scroll down to the graphic cards and you can see a few that are approved for the game (Officially Supported column) and also see how they perform. The list is a little old, but it may help you get an idea and you can move to better cards from here if you wish.

This game is now old, and doesn't require much power at all, although I really don't like recommending old cards, certainly not DX9 cards.

I would look into a GeForce GTS 250, or a Radeon 4850. Both budget, both far more power than you'll need for Oblivion, and both will run newer games well.

If you have the money, shoot for a DX11 card, Radeon 5770 is budget and quite powerful, 5850/5870 is Uber. I'm not recommending DX11 Nvidia cards other than a GTX 470 at this time. If that were to be considered, I would compare it with the 5870 and decide for yourself. Both will certainly require a new power supply!

Important, any of these cards will very, very likely require you to purchase a new power supply. Does your power supply have at least two free molex, or any Pci-E connectors? And how many watts?
If you need a card to run straight from the slot, and are short on cash, you can't beat a GeForce 8600GT GDDR3 512MB

An Geforce 8600gt is hard to find these days and is definitely not wroth it for the price, he could get an Radeon HD 4650 instead for the same price. Heck, the OP should read: Best Graphics Cards For The Money: May 2010 : May Updates

I dont really want a complete overhaul of my computer (YET). i just wanna run oblivion on good graphics without the need of a new power supply.

A 4850 will serve you well without breaking the bank. I would also highly reccomend Sapphire brand.
As suggested, check the PSU. You may need to upgrade it.
