Changes to Total War? Having trouble....
Hi all,
Well I used to play Rome: Total War on my computer with no problems. I recently picked up a copy of Napoleon: Total War and I having having problems. Even on the lowest settings possible I am not running close to smooth. Windows says that I am running the latest version of my nVidia driver so that shouldn't be an issue. Besides getting an entirely new PC (which I need to do anyway), can someone check out my specs and advise me as to what to do? Thanks |

Hi Volfan996,
What were the specs on your old computer? Or if it's the same computer - what OS were you running RTW on successfully? Cheers, Walker Windows Outreach Team |

Well you are running on a laptop, dont expect the same performance as a desktop PC and thats quite an old graphics chip you have.

Since you have Win7 Pro, you could install RTW in XP Mode: Download Windows XP Mode

His problem is that laptops cannot run Napoleon Total War, the GPU is no where near powerful enough, especially as it is integrated.
Installing R:TW in XP mode won't help N:TW work... |

Walker Windows Outreach Team So I have been shopping around looking at laptops and perhaps you can assist me. I have been wanting to upgrade for a few months now but I have been hesitant. I need a new one not just for gaming but to run cs4-5 and other programs. Can you point me in the right direction. Thanks! ![]() |

No problem. You could try using Windows PC Scout, it's a great tool if you know the sort of tasks you'll be doing but not necessarily what specs they require.
What's your price range? Walker Windows Outreach Team |
