how much video memory DO I have here?

My Gateway PC runs an internal Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset video card. To this day I am still not clear how much video RAM I have. DXDiag tells me approx. total memory is 1695 MB which seems high. I need to know what this compares with. As far as gaming goes I can run Doom 3 at medium specs with no framerate issues(I haven't really tried higher settings), Max Payne 2, Serious Sam 2 and the Source games(HL2, Portal). I haven't thrown anything newer at it because I'm unsure what this card can handle. I would guess it caps off at 256 MB but even that may be a high estimate. Intel doesn't even seem to really tell what kind of video RAM this has.

Onboard chips shares video memory with main RAM, you can set the limit in BIOS. For the current limit, I think you can find the number in BIOS.

This should help explain some of what shows in dxdiag,

    Graphics Memory Reduced

Intel graphics uses dynamic memory for their video chipsets,

Graphics — Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) - How much video memory do I have?

and the amount will vary depending on what is set in the bios as being allocated, as well as the total amount of system ram and whether the application needs more (and from what I have seen around here, doesn't seem to work too well).
