DirectX freezes whenever a game tries to install it

It primarily happens with Steam games, but it most recently happened with a regular CD/DVD install. When it gets to the point of the setup where it tries to install the version of DirectX that came with it, it just sits there for several minutes before a window pops up saying "DirectX has stopped working" and if I choose to close it the game runs fine. It's just annoying with the Steam games that I have to either not allow the task to run in the first place (saying "no" when the confirmation window pops up) or going into the steamapps folder, finding the specific games DirectX files and deleting them.

I've tried getting the latest DirectX End-User Runtime (as well as other DirectX installs), but they just don't seem to work. The thing is, when I try to run the DirectX files manually, they also don't work unless I run them as an administrator, and even then they still pop up trying to install when I run the game (if I don't delete them).

TCO, I think you need to be logged in as an administrator to be able to install (almost anything). Have you tried to install and run as Admin and still have the same problem?

Yes. When I run the game launching executable or the Steam executable as administrator, it still cannot successfully run the DirectX install.

And it's not that I'm not LOGGED in as administrator, I just have to right-click and choose "run as administrator" when manually installing the DirectX files.

Bumping this thread only because I still have this issue, on my Desktop as well.

And I noticed it happens when ANY game tries to install DirectX, not just steam. DXSETUP.exe always stalls out and requires me to manually close it before the process continues. Is there any way to make these run during automatic installations? Because they work fine if I try to install DirectX individually (directly running DXSETUP.EXE on my own, not part of another installation).

TCO, the question again: are you an Admin when installing the game and / or have you tried to install the game as an Admin?
Also, run dxdiag and see if it shows anything unusual

As far as I can tell it seems normal. Attached results just in case.
