    The Source Filmmaker is LIVE!

A great tool released from valve that was in closed beta for a while that was used to make mini shorts using valves editor along with the engine source and is now open beta.Been messing around with it for a while my self and it indeed has a learning curve but if used properly, can be a great tool.

Quoted from Valve "Thanks for your patience, everybody! And a really big thanks to our first round of testers, who were instrumental in helping us make the SFM a better user experience.

They were SO helpful, in fact, that we're happy to announce that SFM Beta is now open to everyone, for free, as of right now. We've also provided a new SFM-specific page in the Steam Community where you can view, rate and discuss all the latest user-created videos.

Plus, just so we don't all overdose on "Meet The Heavy" shorts, we've decided to release a new session, to give all you folks something new to riff on. So get out your guitar (and some audio recording equipment) and prepare to "Meet The Engineer".

You can download the Source Filmmaker here on Steam."

That was all nice and all, but is it just me, or am I getting "connection timeout" messages from Steam? And, does it make you purchase / download a copy of Team Fortress 2? (That game is actually free-to-play anyway.)

This sounds like an awesome way to make more of those "machinima" shorts yourself with less of a hassle, thanks for the news, mate!

It's all free of charge,tf2 and Source filmmaker are both free.So no worries of fees or anything and about the connection timeouts,it has to be your net. Also yeah it downloads a separate version of TF2 that's for source filmmaker with all the maps, hats, weapons, characters ect that are involved in tf2.It's also possible to import models and maps that you ripped from other games or ones you made into it by converting it into the format the source engine uses also.Couple ppl have been able to do that.

Right now, I'm having trouble mastering the art of ... posing fingers on the models' hands, not to mention, getting the hands to move when they're trying to lift a gun, a knife, a prop, etc. or getting someone to walk.
