Halo 2 "Unable to start correctly"

I just got Windows 7 and went to install Halo 2.

As soon as I click the setup it says:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006) Click OK to close the application.

I have seen in other forums people with this problem but there weren't any suggestions.

I have tried all the compatibility things/admin rights.

    Suggestions?

The first thing people do here is recommended something like that regardless if the person has tried it or not. If you don't know then don't bother replying.

Good luck .... with your attitude, you're not likely to receive a lot of help...

He's just pointing out the obvious. Stop jumping to conclusions when he said it in the first post and you ask questions that have an obvious answer.

Is this Halo 2 version on a CD/DVD or is it a downloaded version?

Edit: If it's a downloaded version, it might be corrupted.

The funny thing is Halo 2 is actually Vista only. Quite funny you would suggest that.

I can play Halo 2 ok on both xp and window 7 once installing process is success. If the version you are installing was downloaded online, I guess It might be corrupted. How did you get it? If it is online (I do it sometime), it is usually in .rar files. .rar files sometime can be corrupted, that u r notified when unrar. If that is the case, you can use the tool repair achieve on rar window.
I'm sorry if it doesn't apply to you
