Random Minimizing to Desktop while playing

so basically when im playing BFBC2 once in a while i will get random black screen flashes that happen every about 5 minutes. however its not that my card is artifacting because when im playing a game like crysis or left for dead 2 the mysterious black screen is just the game minimizing and the computer bringing me back to the desktop. now, i have updated my gpu multiple times and it keeps on happening. when the bfbc2 games tries to exit to the desktop its acts as a black screen because it reopens by itself. i have the HD 5850 can anyone explain how to fix this problem of games minimizing to the desktop so i dotn have to click back on them and wait while im getting killed?

are you over-clocking anything GPU, CPU, memory...if yes try default values

may be dust in your graphics card...you can get a can of compressed gas duster and give the inside of your computer and graphics card a good cleaning

has this started recently? if yes what has changed recently any new programs or drivers loaded recently may be causing the problem

try older Catalyst versions and see if they make any difference because ATI has had a lot of trouble with BF:BC2 in particular with recent driver releases and has had to issue hot fixes/application profiles to address the issues... Rage3D is a good resource for ATI/driver related info

check what programs you have running in the background, in the past whenever I had a game minimize by itself it was usually caused by some program running causing the game to be minimized and switched to the background

In addition to what SleeStak has suggested are you getting this error... Driver Stopped Responding And Recovered. If so, there are a whole host of suggestions on how to fix.
