Would I have any problems running Oblivion?
I’m considering Elder Scrolls: IV Oblivion, but don’t want to drop $20 on the GOTY version (which I plan to do ASAP - I’m too eager to wait!) if it is impossible to get to run on my set up:
MOD: Acer Aspire AS5738PG-6306
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
CPU: Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 4GB SDRAM DDR2 667
GFX: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 w/ 512MB DDR3
HDD: WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0 (320GB 5400 RPM)
DISP: 15.6" LED backlight HD/WS CineCrystal w/ Multi-Touch
RES: 1366x768 (max)
I have checked with "Can You Run It?" and everything said it was a go, except for the OS.
As for some specifics: I don’t usually run on two monitors, though I can (Notebook has a VGA out port and we have a 17” Dell LCD panel) and I know this causes immediate crashing out on this specific game the first time so that’s not an issue, but I do have dual-core and I’ve heard that this can cause problems with older games… If I did run into any problems due to the dual CPU (or even the OS), is there anything I could do to force it to run somehow? I’ve seen some people saying to adjust the processor affinity to set the game to run only on one core of the CPU, so how would I do that if it was necessary? If I did have to do that, would it run well enough to be playable?
Also, does anybody know if this game is super, super hard on your hardware after a while? I don’t want a $20 game to burn out my $800 beauty here… trying to squeeze at least 6 years out of it if possible lol.
And last but not least, I'm wondering what's the best Dual-Shock/Analog Gamepad for this game (if the mouse and keyboard thing is too hard for me to learn)... I'd like to only go in for about $20 here as well.
As always, thank you very much for your help, advice and opinions!
