your right on the money it uses a loader to select settings, that said it now makes sense.
i have a look for the game.exe if there is one ill try that to. what ever happens i'll let you know as ther might be another gamer trying to load it.

If the game uses a 16 bit loader, then it will not run. 64 bit OS's do not support 16 bit operation.

What you can do is virtualize - if your hardware supports it... Or set up a dual boot.

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. Have you tried to install it to another directory altogether, ie not the default?

I actually have several installs of Il2 and they all work perfectly, no need to run as admin or compatibility settings. In fact, no need to install, just ran from old directory once new OS was installed.

Worked fine on 6954, 7000 & 7100, so I'm guessing it may not like being installed into the default directory.

Hi Novotny, Cap Zero & Scotteq,
    Novotnythats great news,
are you saying that when the install Dialog box appears slelect another folder at the moment it goes to programms86 ubisoft il2fb do you want me to do something like c/il2..? Sorry mate if i'm vague i've not done this before.
where have yousent your installs to?
the game tries to load the dvd will spin up stop spinnup aain as per normal the cursor changes to spinning disk the hd's light up cpu fires up to 60% then nothing no splash screen no more processor usage task manager shows no proglam loading or running its like its hitting a block,

Scotteq the vista version i have is 32 bit so i see where your comming from. I already have a dual boot but was hoping to get rid of vista, as for Virtualize again that mey be beyond my capabilities my hardware will support it (2xhd4870 crossfired (not overclocked)creative fatality extreme,2x west Digi hdd's, intel quad core, asus pk5delux mobo, 3gig ddr3 ram)

    Hmm ok.

    GameCopyWorld - IL-2 Sturmovik / IL2 Sturmovik / IL-2: Forgotten Battles - Forgotten Battles / Ace Expension Pack [Add-On] - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes[ENGLISH]%20No-CD/Fixed%20EXE

That's the no-cd for Il2. I'm fine with posting it as the creators of IL2 recommend using it.

First of all, put that file into the IL2 folder, replacing the original, and try running il2fb.exe.

If this doesn't work, then take your entire IL2 install and copy it somewhere else. ie, if your install is in C:\Program Files (x86)\IL2 Sturmovik, copy the IL2 folder and all it's contents to C:\New IL2. We're basically putting it somewhere other than the default location. IL2 doesn't need to be 'installed', it can run on any windows from any location.

My currently most used version is 'I:\Fresh IL2\Fresh Install 1946 - 409m Mods UI_11 - Current', though I have three versions of IL2 in that hard drive. I also have three other versions on a different drive - yes, I have 6 IL2s on my PC . Different levels of patch, different types of mods.
