Anybody playing/played Singularity?
I just finished it and must say it’s pretty good. I think it might turn out to be a sleeper sort of like TimeShift was. Though reviews were mostly low gamers loved it.
At any rate it’s a first person shooter that has elements of Half-Life, Bioshock, Time Shift and even a Deus Ex type ending.
Anyways It’s based around an item called TMD (Time Manipulation Device) in which you control various portions of time, including aging. Your character is Capt Renko who is on an island that is constantly shifting between time periods of 1955 and 2010. Your mission is to try and repair/stop the Singularity.
The game has a nice mixture of firefights, puzzles and killer bosses! Oh by the way, this isn’t an easy game. Expect some frustration as the save system is based on level completions… meaning there is no save games, if you die or fail, you’ll have to start all over from the beginning of the level.
Graphic wise there really isn’t nothing to be excited about, especially the blood, which is pretty laughable as it looks more like red paintball paint. If you’ve played Time Shift, you have an ideal what the graphics are about. However for the surrounding world and environment, they really aren’t that bad, in fact it kind of fits the environment. Again Time Shift comes to mind. See these images
At any rate I rather enjoyed it. Between the story, action, and general game play it wasn’t bad at all. In fact, I’m looking forward to playing through it again.
As to actual game performance, I haven’t notice any glaring bugs or show stoppers like things slowing down your systems or crashes. In fact I’ve played a few sessions for at least 3 hours at a time and hadn’t had one performance issue.
Now I will say AA appears to be broken, but most Unreal 3 engine games tend to have AA issues with ATI cards.
If you’re looking for something to tide you over till say, Fallout Vegas is released, and want a little action… check out Singularity. You might be surprised. There are some really good firefight, cool weapons (the Seeker is cool as s..t), and some killer bosses. Not a bad ending as well. Overall I’d rate it at least an 8, if not 8.5.

Good game
Oh yeah…. The game also has multiplayer component to it, though I’ve not tried that part of it since I don’t do multiplayer.
