Updated the video card drivers at all? From looking here,

the latest (or at least the first or second driver after the demo came out) driver seems to be the fix for that error. If that doesn't do it try on of the other 4 threads that talk about it,

i cant even launch it, i just get the error. i also downloaded the demo on steam. when i try to run it, it leads me to dirt 2 store page -.-
yes i tried to update the drivers from device manager. they are up to date.

Unless you are using Intel graphics I wouldn't trust the video drivers from Windows Update for an ATI or Nvidia based card. You want the latest drivers you get them directly from ATI of which this thread here,

has the links to and gets updated when the next driver comes out. I would start with uninstalling the Windows Update driver and installing the latest from the above link, and then try the game again.
