Pretty much flip a coin between Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim,

Yeah, in retail stores it is. Also, TY supplies media for places like Fuji, Memorex, etc...so you never know what you have unless you test the media once you get it.

Like I said, i usually order my media online

Me too. I have a Sny burner so logic said use Sony DVD's. I use DVD+RW and
DVD-r all without a single problem thought I do find the +RW are a little prone to damage after three or four deletes. Need to store very carefully.

Well i don't have a problem with the Tesco brand here in the UK :) All i really use the disks for is to back up my music, i even back my music up on dvd disks so i can hold more songs.

Tesco home made CD's/DVD's all the way.

I author all family photo's'n'videos and only trust Taiyo Yuden -R (single layer) to cherish memories :)
and for Dual Layer I use Verbatim +R DL. If you buy cheap stuff, you will notice a degradation of quality over time and over usage, but more importantly risk losing data...hmmmmm....

I use Verbatim wherever possible for my own personal backups, but generally have an el-cheapo brand handy for when I need to write something for a friend, or for temporary usage.

My success/loss ratio with Verbatim is around 4 disc write failures for every 600 discs...
