    Program Icon BIG issues

So this morning, I turned on my PC (I run Windows 7 Ultimate), and I see something odd.

All of my Programs on the taskbar were different, their icons had been replaced by pieces of paper with the Internet Explorer logo on it. So I tried opening one. Instead of Google Chrome opening for example, A window would open up saying "Do you want to open or save this file?" Pressing either option simply closes the window and makes it re-appear a moment later.

Also all the programs in the start menu look like this too. Even Snippets and Calculator.

    This has NEVER happened.

All my programs still WORK, but in order to access them I have to go to Start/ My Computer/ Drive C:/ Program Files/ and open up the program from its native folder.

Plus when I try to click a folder-shortcut to My Music on the desktop(That also has the IE/paper logo) it opens an unstoppable ever-looping window that opens and closes and re-opens and re-closes no matter what process I close, and what I click. I had to restart my computer. This is all a HUGE hassle.

    I run 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate with a 500gb Hard Drive.

Hello ! Welcome to SF !

Go to this link Default File Type Associations - Restore and download for lnk (LNK) and use the Registry key in that to fix this issue. Basically i think the associations for INK might have broken so we are restoring it.

    Good Luck,
    Captain

I think the Capt meant .lnk, not .ink.
