    Flashing the bios.

Hello all, erm never flashed bios before and have recently noticed there is an update on the Acer web site. The bios mine is running on at the minute is R01-B3 and the new one is R01-B4.

Is it worth updating to the new one?

Will Win 7 take to it?

What will be the benefits of the newly released bios over the one I have?

How do I go about doing it and are there any safety precautions I could take so I can roll back incase I F it up?

If its not broke why fix it?

All the bioses i have updated the last years have been easy to update just i windows program that have flashed the bios and then a reboot i would recomend to reboot first so no programs can interrupt the flash prosess but thats just me. I am not sure if its any way you easy rollback bit some MB have a dual bios just in case the flashing goes wrong. And im sure w7 wil take the bios.

this is the most precarious install you'll ever make, if this goes wrong there is usually no way to re-flash.....

if you OC quite heavily this is quite good for adding additional options, if not i'd leave it well alone......

if you want to update the BIOS make sure your running ''optimized system defaults'' when you do so.... if you update over an exsisting OC you'll bugger it.

are you going to do it via USB..??

See if you can find the changelog. Otherwise as others have said if it brings nothing major to the party, dont bother.

Erm I have not decided yet. I have never done it before so................

Also I haven't overclocked this system yet because that was the reason I burnt out the last time.

I am basically looking for the best ways to do it as I have never done it before but I do know how important it is not to F it up. Do you think it would be worth it or am I just best leaving it alone. My system runs fandabedosey now so I cant expect things to run better can I. There is nothing broke and it runs sweet. What do you reckon?

Yes good idea to try and find change log, on the job now.

    Thanks chaps.

First thing to do is always check the changelog, see if theres anything new worth the hassle for.
