same here but then it gets complicated (when you use more accounts...lol)
usually use two or three gmail accounts and one hotmail account...

use thunderbird on gmail and as i am trying to pinch every penny (that includes extremly cheap domains...lol)

and when im not using my computer the webbased form is more than enough for the current need at that moment..

Nope - Thunderbird gets all the mail for each account into it's own folder - and is intelligent enough to reply to that person from that account name...

I even have rotating signatures using (now this is pretty old software) Phranc's SigChanger....

Doesn't it tell you at the top what account you are replying from? Outlook sure does. I would imagine thunderchicken would have that feature too.

See, it is easy for me to not get confused.

99% of the forums and such sites I visit use my alias (johngalt, johnlgalt, and slight variations).

Only friends (and I mean people I grew up with) and family have my email addresses that use my real name (no, john is not my real name - I'm Indian, my name is not even close to John).

As for confusion, it is pretty easy to tell - again, since each email address has its own set of folders (inbox, outbox, sent, etc) if it is in this particular account's inbox, then replying to it will use the same email address - and if I need to supply an alternate, I use another johngalt@ email address.

Same for family and friends- if i need to use an alternate, I use one of my other {real name}@ email addresses.

No confusion possible, unless I develop amnesia and forget that ht person I am sending mail to is someone I have never met / have met in real life, and use the wrong email address - but that is what reply is for :P
