    My Computer pinned to Taskbar

    Hey all,

Vista veteran that just switched over to Win7 64-bit Home edition this week. Just pinned My Computer to the taskbar. When I click the icon, it brings up the list of internal/external drives (C, D, etc) as it should. But then, when I click on one of the drives, it opens up the contents in 2 other windows. Odd. So for instance, if I click on the C drive, I end up with 3 windows open, the My Computer window, and 2 separate C:drive windows.

Is there any way I can just have the contents of the C:drive (or whichever drive) open up in the same window as My Computer?

This only happens when I open My Computer through the taskbar, when I click on the icon on my desktop or on the start menu, it behaves normally.

Hope this makes sense - and thanks in advance!!!

    Bob

Hello stargazer830, welcome to Seven Forums!

How are you pinning 'computer' to the taskbar as by default it opens in the "Explorer" folder on the taskbar with no "pin-to" option?

Check whether it is set to Open each folder in the same window > In Organize > Folder and search options.

Thanks for the quick reply, Bare Foot Kid!

I have the Desktop toolbar on my taskbar, and hide the icons on my desktop (I like a clean screen!) I clicked on the toolbar, then dragged the Computer onto the taskbar.

I originally had Win Explorer pinned to the taskbar, but hated that it open to the Libraries first...

    Oh, another thing....

The window always opens up with the Navigation pane on. I turn it off (Organize--Layout--Navigation Pane), and it disappears, but when I open it up again it turns back on. Can I make it stay off permanently???

Did you do an upgrade from Vista to Windows7?
